Our St. Helena "HALL Estate" Vineyard was among the first in Napa Valley when it was originally planted in 1859. Our Bergfeld Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates the legacy of pioneering wine grower Robert Bergfeld who owned our historic winery from 1894 until 1910.

To craft the 2005 Bergfeld, we selected vibrant, well-ripened fruit from the northwestern block of HALL Estate where Sulfur Creek once flowed, a block with free-draining soil that warms up quickly during the day. A dose of Sacrashe hillside fruit lends deep dark-fruit character and sturdy structure to the wine. Jammy, toasty wood aromas encapsulate a dense yet truly elegant fruit core that unfolds as full-textured tannins melt away in the back-palate and settle into a long, ripe fruit finish. Beautiful upon release, this wine is cellar-worthy for up to 15 years.
Price: $100/Bottle | $1,080/Case
Praise for the 2005 Bergfeld Cabernet: 95 Points -Wine Enthusiast "This is one of those Napa Cabs that tastes glamorous. Even people who know little about wine will taste it and go, Wow. And the longer it sits in the glass and airs, the better it gets. Bone dry, soft and smooth, it shows luscious black currant, plum, sage, spice and cedar flavors, wrapped into finely ground tannins that will enable it to age for a decade." — S.H., March 1, 2009
93 Points - Wine Spectator "Impeccably balanced and sumptuous, this is supple, ripe and juicy, with complex plum, black cherry, raspberry, black olive and savory cigar box spices. Full-bodied, elegant and polished. Long and complex on the finish. Drink now through 2017." —James Laube, Wine Spectator, November 10, 2008
