The Napa River Ranch estate vineyard sits along the eastern edge of the valley floor, in the slightly cooler, northern bounds of the town of Napa. The soils and climate provide an ideal terroir to boldly articulate the generous, exuberant qualities of Merlot. For this 2006 vintage, we chose only the finest small-vineyard blocks and the most expressive barrels. Its deep ruby hue is matched by yawning aromas of dark briary fruit, blackberry pie and minty cedar. Flavors of cocoa-infused black cherries persist on the palate with sweet, silky tannins. This bottling will age gracefully for 8-10 years.
