Wine blogger Brain Pasch recounts his first experience with the HALL Diamond Mountain Cabernet, “My absolute favorite of the night was the 2005 Hall Diamond Mountain Cabernet which I rated 97 points. The 2005 DM cabernet tasted like a finely aged California Cabernet. This was the first time I experienced the sensation of tasting a young wine that behaved in this manner. I could have sworn this was a wine that had aged 5-7 years due to the soft tannins, seductive aromas and elegant fruit finish. This wine is a must purchase for any serious collector of fine California Cabernet wines.”

Thanks for inviting the Wine Club members to the Hall St. Helena Groundbreaking Event.  It certainly was the event of the year in Napa Valley.  We certainly enjoyed ourselves and it was nice to see the Hall's so happy after all the years.  I must tell you that my 30 year old daughter introduced us to Hall Winery. Quite a few years ago now we went to a Halloween party at the winery with my daughter.  The Hall's were there in their Austrian outfits… and the wine was good too!

The staff at the Hall Vineyard is just fantastic! I recently visited the vineyard with a group of girls and it was hands down our favorite vineyard. The wines were great and the vineyard itself is just beautiful! I look forward to visiting again very soon!

My first Hall Wine Tour was with a group in early February. Since then, I am a true fan. It snowed 22 inches in the past 24 hours. During the height of the storm, I opened two (2) of the 2004 Napa Valley Merlot for a group of friends. I received them as part of my first Wine Club delivery. From the first swirl to the last drop, I was transported back to that early February afternoon when I was first introduced to Hall Wines in St. Helena. It was truly my pleasure to share these memories with my closest friends.

The experience: The Halls have assembled an outstanding staff -- knowledgeable, personable and studiously avoiding any suggestion of wine snobbery. You could probably ask which wine goes with mac 'n' cheese and nobody would snicker. The overall feeling, from the time you park your car amid handsome grape plantings, is enjoyable. Staffers keep the sales pitch low-key, though they are eager to point out the advantages of joining the Hall wine club.

The extras: Members of the winery's wine club can drop into the comfortable lounge on one side of the building. There is also a picnic area, though Hall does not sell food. (Deluxe grocer Dean & Deluca is only a cork's pop away.) With 24-hour notice, as few as two people can reserve a tour, which takes anywhere from 45 to 75 minutes. The cost of $20 a person includes a barrel tasting, the regular tasting and the reserve tastings.

We rolled out the new wine list two weeks ago and so far the staff and our patrons think it is Hallerrific!  We start the "Hall or Nothing Flight" with the Hall Napa Merlot (my favorite out of the Napa line) then we move on to the Hall Napa Cab, and then finish off with the “Family Favorite” Kathryn Hall Rutherford Cab.  

The great thing is that people can try them in the lounge and then buy them in the store.  The store has the Hall Sauvignon Blanc, Hall Merlot, Hall Cabernet and Kathryn Hall.  On a side note I tried the T bar T Merlot and Cab….WOW I loved them both.  Great job.

I would say that the Hall Cabernet is easily the best value Cabernet in the Napa Valley I have yet to find after tasting through countless wines at that price point.  I am impressed that this wine is so well balanced with bright, forward fruit, complexity, acidity, and medium tannins that make it a pleasure to drink on it’s own, but especially matched so well to our food.  I receive wonderful compliments each night on the quality of the wine, and many a guest has inquired to where they might be able to purchase a bottle.   The Hall Napa Valley Cabernet is elegant enough to pair with a fish dish like wild striped bass with oxtails or as a compliment to an intense powerful meaty dish like braised short ribs in a horseradish crust.
