Cellar Selection - "Smoke and oak commingle on the nose of this bright, crisply underwritten red, with 7% Merlot. Vibrant in red cherry, red licorice and cassis, the flavors are highlighted along a carpet of velvety texture and serious power..."
boysenberry, warm pie crust, brown spice, with floral and earthy undertones. Exotic flavors of wild berry coulis, 5-spice, black tea and cedar come through on the palate. Dense, lush and powerful tannins lead into a long and intensely fruity finish.

Our “Bergfeld” St. Helena vineyard is 100% estate fruit, planted in light gravelly alluvial soils strewn across an ancient creek bed. The well-drained soils and warm growing conditions produce wines of immense power. The unique nature of this site ensures low vine vigor, small crops and intensely concentrated berries with balanced acidity.

Vintage NotesThe drought conditions helped contribute to an unusually early harvest in 2014. Substantial rain in early spring provided the vines enough hydration to sustain an otherwise dry summer. The entire season was early, from budbreak, to veraison, to harvest. Summer weather was perfect for the grapes, with no extremes or surprises. Fruit quality was exceptional, intensely aromatic and showcased great fruit character.
