Critic Review
IWR, Owen Bargreen
"Aged 22 Months in 65% New French Oak, this wine opens with a bouquet of creme de cassis, exotic spices, coffee grounds and anise with sandalwood accents."

This wine presents powerful aromatics of concentrated dark fruit, freshly turned earth, warm baking spice and beautifully integrated oak. The spice and fruit flavors carry through to the palate for a rich, unctuous, and balanced effect. The finish is long, dense and nuanced with flavors of dark berry and crushed rock.

Inspired by our vineyard sources along the Soda Canyon corridor, this blend is crafted from vineyards with pronounced influences from the rocky, dry soils and hillside aspects. This translates into highly structured and dense wines. Due to low vigor growing conditions, the vines endure stress which manifests in the wine and is evidenced in the firm tannin and lengthy finish.

Vintage NotesThe drought conditions helped contribute to an unusually early harvest in 2014. Substantial rain in early spring provided the vines enough hydration to sustain an otherwise dry summer. The entire season was early, from budbreak, to veraison, to harvest. Summer weather was perfect for the grapes, with no extremes or surprises. Fruit quality was exceptional, intensely aromatic and showcased great fruit character.
