2015 HALL Bergfeld St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon
"Possessing considerable elegance and purity in its blackberry, black cherry (and even some blueberry) fruit, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Bergfeld opens nicely in the glass and gives up more graphite, spicy oak, and licorice aromatics. It's concentrated, medium to full-bodied, beautifully focused and pure on the palate, with enough structure to warrant 5-6 years of bottle age."
Enticing aromas of blackberry pie, creme de cassis and clove, with savory undertones of worn leather and musk. Dense and powerful tannins are balanced by a lush brightness and core of sweet oak on the mid-palate and leads into a long and mouth coating finish.
Creme de Cassis
Our St. Helena Estate vineyard is planted in alluvial soils above an ancient creek bed. The soils are light and packed with river rock and gravel. These well-drained soils, coupled with a warm growing region, encourage the vines to produce prodigious wines of great power.
|Varietal Composition||100% Cabernet Sauvignon|
|Barrel Aging||22 Months in 80% New French Oak|
|Vintage Notes||An unseasonably warm spring brought early bloom and bud break. Temperatures cooled in May causing grape shatter, which resulted in uneven fruit set and reduced an already low crop yield. In reaction, vineyard crews worked even more diligently during verasion thinning to maintain even ripening of the clusters. As a result of the growing conditions, attention to detail in the vineyards, and a final pass through optical sorting equipment at the winery, the quality of the vintage is extremely high.|
