"Features a gorgeous mix of red and black currant fruit, lightly steeped and mixed with flecks of savory, black tea and roasted alder wood. A smoldering charcoal hint weaves through the finish, adding texture and length. Serious juice."

"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Bergfeld, from Hall's home vineyard, is a terrific expression of this sector of St. Helena. Floral notes and a host of sweet red cherry, raspberry fruit make a strong first impression. Silky tannins add to the wine's gracious, inviting personality. Rich in flavor and also light on its feet, the Bergfeld is another superb wine from Hall."

Bergfeld St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon has enticing aromas of blackberry pie, vanilla, créme de cassis, and clove with savory undertones of worn leather and herbs de provence. Medium garnet in color, this wine’s dense and powerful tannins are balanced by a lush brightness and dark concentrated berries. A core of sweet oak on the mid-palate leads into a long and structured mouth-coating finish.

Our St. Helena Estate vineyard is planted in alluvial soils above an ancient creek bed. The soils are light and packed with river rock and gravel. These well-drained soils, coupled with a warm growing region, encourage the vines to produce prodigious wines of great power.

Vintage NotesThe 2016 vintage marked the end of the drought years, although precipitation levels were still moderate to low. Near-perfect growing conditions continued throughout the summer with a few heat spikes that the valley is known for. Yields were a bit lower than normal, but the quality of the harvest was high. The resulting wine is rich and lush, with supple tannins and opulent, elegant finishes. Wines from 2016 are a fifth consecutive vintage of stellar Napa Valley wines.
