2016 HALL Jack's Masterpiece Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review
"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece comes from a mix of vineyards and is a cellar selection put together by the winery president and former winemaker Mike Reynolds. Rocking levels of red, blue, and black fruits are interwoven with notions of unsmoked tobacco, iron, lavender, and lead pencil shavings. These all flow to a full-bodied, brilliantly balanced, seamless red that has ripe, sweet tannins, a stacked mid-palate, and the class to drink beautifully today yet evolve for two decades or more."

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Masterpiece bursts from the glass with confident cassis, preserved plums and mulberries scents backed up by notions of cedar chest, pencil lead, espresso and tar. Full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house with a solid frame of grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long with fantastic purity."
This wine is deep ruby with notes of ripe blackberry, black plum, cacao, eucalyptus and pine needle. Big and bold on the palate with brooding mountain fruit, black cherry, violet and cedar. The refined structure and tannins on the palate shows off the age-ability of this Cabernet.

Our Jack’s Masterpiece comes from many vineyard sources and appellations, but tends to be dominated by mountain fruit. Vineyards planted in mountain terrains produce vines smaller in stature but with more concentrated grapes. These grapes provide the basis for the dense, powerful structure of this wine. Our goal is to capture the flavors of dark black fruit mixed with powerful, chewy tannins, and a focused palate.

Vintage Notes | The 2016 vintage marked the end of the drought years, although precipitation levels were still moderate to low. Near-perfect growing conditions continued throughout the summer with a few heat spikes that the valley is known for. Yields were a bit lower than normal, but the quality of the harvest was high. The resulting wine is rich and lush, with supple tannins and opulent, elegant finishes. Wines from 2016 are a fifth consecutive vintage of stellar Napa Valley wines. |
