2017 HALL Eighteen Seventy-Three Cabernet Sauvignon
"This is named after the first year that grapes were planted on their estate in St. Helena. Sourced from roughly twenty vineyards throughout the valley. Espresso bean tones combine with chocolate covered cherry and creme de cassis on the nose. The palate is seamless with great acidity with layers of blue and dark fruits that mingle with chocolate, tobacco leaf and graphite tones. With moderate tannins and a great sense of length, this beautiful wine will cellar well over the next two decades."

IN 1873, CAPTAIN WILLIAM PETERSON came to Napa and established a pioneering winery on our St. Helena property. Throughout the 1930’s and 40’s, the site grew to become Napa’s most important winery, producing nearly 40% of its entire vintage. The fruit for our “Eighteen Seventy-Three” hails from the rugged mountain slopes that frame Napa Valley. Power and individuality underscore this wine, a deliberate intent to commemorate the trailblazing spirit of Napa’s first vintners.

|Vintage Notes||Our 2017 harvest wrapped up early fall following summer heat spurts and a growing season that saw significant rain throughout the state, ending a five-year drought. The season began with rainfall that refilled reservoirs and replenished soils. Harvest began early ata normal pace, and then progressed rapidly during a heat wave in late August and early September. Temperatures cooled in mid-September, slowing the harvest pace and allowing grapes to ripen gradually. This is a strong quality vintage.|
