"Butterscotch and toasted hazelnut aromas with lemon curd mark the nose. The sense of balance is gorgeous as a beam of salinity races through the bright orchard fruits with lemon cream. The texture imparted is outstanding."

"Shows impressive concentration to the pear tart, apple pastry and crushed stone flavors, supported by crunchy acidity. Egg cream and honeyed notes show on the long finish, with dill accents."

The wine is a vibrant gold with a slight green hue. The nose greets aromas of ripe Asian pear, lemon tart, and mango. The palate is rich and beautiful in structure, formed by vibrant acidity and barrel aging. Tropical fruit and crème fraîche on the palate lead to a long and focused finish with hints of crushed gravel.

The Sangiacomo Vineyard is a certified sustainable vineyard, first planted in 1969. The block we source from is entirely "Old Wente" field selection. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean and San Pablo Bay makes this site ideal for growing Chardonnay. Older vines produce small clusters that drive concentration and richness in the wine.

Vintage Notes | The 2017 growing season began with significant rainfall, replenishing soils and reservoirs. A summer of gradual warmth indicated a textbook growing season until unpredictable spells of extreme heat throughout September created challenges for many vineyards. This slightly reduced yields, but great quality fruit. Cooling marine air arrived just in time to bring our vineyards to ideal harvesting conditions resulting in concentrated, rich, and dense wines. |
