2018 HALL Eighteen Seventy-Three Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review
"With good components of red fruit, acidity and tension, this wine offers well-integrated tannins and oak, made in a burly, full-bodied style with richness to spare. The finish is especially succulent, with twists of mocha chocolate."
91-93 Points | Robert Parker Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon 1873 is opaque purple-black colored and sings of wild blueberries and fresh red and black currants with rose hip tea, cinnamon stick and underbrush hints. The palate is full-bodied, open and expressive with plush tannins and soft acid, finishing spicy."

Deep garnet color. Complex fruit aromas of ripe blackberry, subtle warm oak and plum. On the palate, pronounced flavors of dark fruit, cocoa nib, wet stone, and baking spice are supported by firm, structured tannins and bright acidity round out the powerful finish.

IN 1873, CAPTAIN WILLIAM PETERSON came to Napa and established a pioneering winery on our St. Helena property. Throughout the 1930’s and 40’s, the site grew to become Napa’s most important winery, producing nearly 40% of its entire vintage. The fruit for our “Eighteen Seventy-Three” hails from the rugged mountain slopes that frame Napa Valley. Power and individuality underscore this wine, a deliberate intent to commemorate the trailblazing spirit of Napa’s first vintners.

Vintage Notes | This near perfect growing season began in late February. Our Spring weather was mild, and allowed for extended flowering that produced very uniform grape clusters. Temperatures throughout Napa remained steady and warm during the majority of summer and fall, without any heat spikes, making for a long and unhurried harvest. The resulting wines are incredibly smooth and polished, with magnificent texture and color. |
