This is a richly viscous and voluptuous red wine from the heat-loving appellation. Dried cherry and plum fruitiness meet baking spice, oak and a hint of lavender, with prominent tannin weight contributing additional heft and length.

The 2019 vintage is bursting with vibrant, dynamic flavors. Sunny red berries and dried jamaica flowers are accented with notes of orange zest, black pepper, and star anise. Concentrated and complex, the palate is a balanced interplay of vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and a fresh wash of minerality. 

Barrel Aging 9 months

Calistoga AVA – Pocai Vineyard

At the base of a gentle alluvial fan in the Calistoga AVA, framed by mountain ranges at the northernmost end of the Napa Valley, lies Pocai Vineyard. The gravelly soil drains well here and the sunlight is optimum. Hot summer days tempered by cool coastal breezes in the evening provide perfect ripening conditions for this expressive Zinfandel. The Ballentine family draws on their 100-year heritage of farming this site, first planted by their maternal grandfather, Libero Pocai.
