"Named after the historic property this is mostly sourced from their Saint Helena Estate which is set on an ancient creek bed with very well-drained soils. The nose shows some stony influence with black rose, tar and graphite notes, alongside boysenberry fruits. The palate is refined and elegant with firm tannins that hold a core of blackberry pie and black cherry cordial, showing very pure black fruits and wet gravel."

Deep Ruby Red. Tightly wound aromas that take time to open. Deep and intense layers of black cherry, earth, freshly ground coffee, warm baking spice. The palate is powerful and energetic - full of inky dark fruits, chocolate, and leather. The dense frame of tannin is supported by a supple and full mid-palate that leads into a very lengthy, slightly dusty finish.

Our St. Helena Estate vineyard is planted in alluvial soils above an ancient creek bed. The soils are light and packed with river rock and gravel. These well-drained soils, coupled with a warm growing region, encourage the vines to produce prodigious wines of great power.

Vintage Notes | Our 2019 growing began with ample rainfall and lingering soil moisture. A warm, extended summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season helped to preserve freshness and balance in the fruit with hang time that allowed for impressive color, structure and tannin. This is an exceptional vintage defined by well integrated acidity, dense texture, and great depth. |
