2019 HALL Ellie's Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review

Dense red-purple color. The wine's effusive nose offers enticing aromas of black currant preserves, violet pastille, savory crushed sage, and an oak influenced note of crème brûlée. On the palate the wine is vibrant and dense with extra silky tannins enhanced by the incorporation of Merlot in the blend. The finish is long and juicy.

This wine is named for Craig Hall's mother, Eleanor “Ellie” Hall, who was an artist and a teacher. She inspired Craig’s love of art and it is her artwork that graces this wine’s label. Crafting this blend is an exercise in texture. Vineyard sources are selected for their elegance with tannins that are soft, lush, opulent and feminine in character. The palate is driven by minerality, cassis, and a floral perfume.

Vintage Notes | The 2019 vintage began with a wet spring bringing three inches of rain in May. In response to the late rains our vineyards received diligent attention to control vigorous vine growth. A long Indian summer followed with mild weather, allowing the fruit to ripen at slow, even place. The long picking windows bore fruit with beautiful freshness at optimal ripeness. The resulting wines are exceptionally elegant. |
