2021 WALT The Corners Pinot Noir
Critic Review
"This wine is opulent with aromas of baked strawberry-apricot, orange marmalade and cardamom. The midpalate has flavors of black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon stick and vanilla cream interlaced with chicory, mocha and a dry, juicy finish. Pair with roasted pork tenderloin."
Our 2021 'The Corners' Pinot Noir opens with effusive aromas of freshly turned earth, blue fruit, and paprika. The palate is balanced and central, with flavors of fresh red cherry, fig, violet pastille and a hint of Pennyroyal . Bright, crunchy acidity complements the long and fruit forward finish.

A unique vineyard from 'The Corner' of Anderson Valley. This site is considered to be special due to the steep hillsides, aspect, and light gravelly soils that combine to create optimal ripening conditions. This very rugged vineyard continuously produces fruit of great depth and character. Our 'Corners" Pinot Noir is typically sourced from the upper elevation blocks (pommard clone) , where small vines and berries produce a concentrated and opulent wine.

Vintage Notes | The alluring 2021 vintage is remarkable for its low yields, which resulted in an extra degree of concentration in our wines. In a second year of drought, the vines grew quickly in the warm spring weather while our team judiciously managed watering block by block. By summer, the vines had set a lighter than average crop, and cooler weather in August allowed time for vineyard passes to finetune the fruit load and manage the canopy. After a smooth harvest season, we are excited about the flavor-packed 2021's. |
