Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the DMD is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area. With porous, volcanic-derived soils, the vines produce distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent tannins.
The 2022 Diamond Mountain is inky garnet in color, with a powerful aroma of pure black cassis, followed by cocoa powder, crushed rocks and a savory umami note. Plentiful fine-grained tannins with a dark chocolate-like texture and a lengthy full-bodied finish express an age-worthy wine.

Vintage Notes | Ample winter rain, followed by temperate and dry conditions through March gave us a good start to the vintage. The spring and summer months were consistent and warm, resulting in small but healthy canopies and balanced vines. Labor Day came with a curveball from Mother Nature in the form of a prolonged heat wave that accelerated harvest at many of our vineyard sites, followed immediately by much cooler weather and a bit of rain. This refreshing slow-down allowed the remaining grapes to hang a bit longer, yielding beautifully balanced fruit and polished tannin. Overall the 2022 vintage is fresh with pure, concentrated flavors. |
