The 2024 vintage began with much needed winter rainfall that revitalized the soil and set the stage for healthy vine growth, and a balanced crop. Summer was marked by mostly moderate temperatures with a brief burst of warmth around Labor Day, where well-developed canopies shielded the fruit from excess heat. As harvest approached, mild daytime temperatures and cool nights arrived, allowing for steady ripening into September. The resulting wines showcase beautiful color and depth, with precise acidity, rich texture, and concentrated flavors.
Our 2024 Home Base Zinfandel is richly expressive, unfolding with bold aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackberry layered with warm sandalwood tones. The palate is dark, fleshy, and voluptuous, delivering concentrated fruit flavors with a silky, mouthcoating texture. Medium-bodied yet generous, the wine showcases abundant fruit intensity supported by moderate acidity and supple tannins, finishing long, smooth, and irresistibly flavorful.
We are proud to introduce fruit from our BACA Estate Vineyard, a site rooted in the historic legacy of California Zinfandel. Drawing inspiration from traditional field blends, the vineyard is planted to heritage Zinfandel clones alongside classic blending varieties, honoring the way the region’s great wines were originally made. The site is located in Dry Creek Valley, one of California’s oldest winegrowing regions and a benchmark for Zinfandel since the late 19th century. Distinct within Sonoma County, Dry Creek warms early in the day and reaches higher daytime temperatures, while dramatic nighttime cooling preserves freshness. This dynamic growing environment yields wines of depth and generosity — rich, weighty, and unmistakably expressive of place.
