Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area.
Deep purple hue, this wine has inviting aromas of blackberry, star anise, leather, and dusty cocoa. The palate opens with a perfectly balanced acidity that plays off of the abundant dark fruit flavors. Hints of exotic spice, earth, black pepper, and a mineral note accompany the fruit flavors beautifully.
Inspired by our vineyard sources along the Soda Canyon corridor, this blend is crafted from vineyards with pronounced influences from the rocky, dry soils and hillside aspects. This translates into highly structured and dense wines.
The 2018 Terra Secca opens with inviting aromas of ripe black plum, freshly turned earth and dried herbs. Densely structured and focused on the palate with flavors of mocha-laced blackberry, savory undertones, and crushed gravel.
In creating this blend, we realized the great potential of our vineyard sourcing within St. Helena. Unique for its gravelly, low vigor soils and a cooling influence of Pacific breezes from the north, the fruit from this region produces a stylistically lush, aromatic wine with a dense core of dark briary fruit.
On the palate, this wine offers rich, dark fruit, cacao nibs, wet stone rounded by dusty, structured tannins.
