Stag's Leap, Napa Valley

Stags Leap District is six miles north of the city of Napa situated between the Stags Leap Palisades rock formation and the Napa River on the eastern side of Napa Valley. This sub-appellation was initially established in 1989, and its distinctive essence is profoundly shaped by its surroundings.

The proximity to the San Pablo Bay assumes a pivotal role in the climatic nuances of Stags Leap. Evening marine breezes usher in lower nighttime temperatures, helping retain acidity in the grapes. These cool evening temperatures are juxtaposed against the warmer temperatures that are experienced during the day due to the reflection of the afternoon sun from the rocky exposures of the Palisades to the east.

The Stags Leap District boasts a plethora of soil profiles, but our vineyards find their roots in the eastern precincts of this appellation. Here, the volcanic parentage of the rugged Stags Leap Palisades have eroded to the valley floor and lay the foundation for deeply complex Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon resonates with a burst of fruit intensity and energy, an ode to the diurnal rhythm of warm days and cool nights in the appellation. Typically, these wines unfurl a tapestry of flavors—ripe cherry, succulent plum, and aromatic anise. The vibrant acidity gracing the palate complements powerful, concentrated tannins, culminating in a silky and gravelly minerality. The compelling acidity and supple texture lead to remarkable longevity in the cellar.

Our Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon resonates with a burst of fruit intensity and energy, an ode to the diurnal rhythm of warm days and cool nights of this Napa Valley appellation.
