Robert Parker Wine Advocate, Joe Czerwinski
"...impressively floral and expressive, with hints of lavender, sage and bay bringing welcome nuance to the cassis and black cherry fruit. It's full-bodied and creamy-silky in feel, but tannic and streamlined in shape, reflecting its mountain origins. Focused and long on the finish, it's a lovely example of its AVA."

"The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain District comes from the northwestern region of the valley, which is a warmer, mountainous terroir. Blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, new leather, and savory herb notes all shine in this beauty, a power-packed 2021 with a great mid-palate, ripe, velvety tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. It has a certain generosity and opulence that should allow it to offer pleasure in its youth, yet it still has plenty of classic Diamond Mountain tannins and structure and will be very long-lived."

"The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain was tasted as a barrel sample. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps from the glass with bold notions of black raspberries, wild blueberries, and cassis, leading to an undercurrent of tar, mossy tree bark, and wild sage. The full-bodied palate is laden with intense black fruit and earthy layers with a firm, grainy texture, finishing on a lingering peppery note."

Our 2021 Diamond Mountain Cabernet opens with concentrated aromas of black fruits, earth, cocoa, and wet stone. On the palate, there’s a perfectly balanced acidity that intensifies abundant dark fruit flavors alongside hints of forest, black pepper, and a mineral note. Overall, the structure is full-bodied, rich, and lengthy—displaying powerful tannin and an age worthy grip on the finish.

Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area. With porous, volcanic-derived soils, the vines produce distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent tannins.

Vintage NotesThe alluring 2021 vintage is notable for its low yields, which resulted in an extra degree of concentration in our wines. In a second year of severe drought, the vines grew quickly in the warm spring weather while our team carefully managed irrigation block by block. By summer, the vines had set a lighter than average crop, and cooler weather in August allowed time for multiple vineyard passes to finetune the fruit load and manage the canopy. After a smooth harvest season, we are excited about the beautifully balanced, flavor-packed 2021's.
