2018 HALL Auspicious Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review
"The toasty oak on the nose beautifully compliments the core of blue and black fruits with espresso bean undercurrents. Full bodied and rich, firm tannins hold in place downright sexy core of black tea, Turkish coffee, black tea, cigar box, blueberry pie and loganberry cordial on the palate. The flavor range exhibited is sensational. Gorgeous to consume now, this will have another twenty plus years ahead of it."
Year after year our hillside based vineyards produce stunningly gorgeous wines. In this vintage we were compelled to create a unique blend rooted in these singular vineyard sites. Dense garnet in color and alive with aromas of crushed blackberry, violets, black licorice, balsam and earth. Supple, profound and refined, the wine glides over the palate, its radiance resonating through the long finish. Enjoy over the next 15-20 years.

Perched 1400 feet above the valley floor, Howell Mountain is well above the fog line. This natural inversion layer assures the vineyards are drenched in sunlight from daybreak to sunset. Cooler spring temperatures cause buds to break later than average, and warm summer nights produce fruit of opulence and density. With rocky, infertile volcanic soils, the water is freely drained and the vines struggle and are low in vigor, producing intense wines from small clusters and berries.

Vintage Notes | This near perfect growing season began in late February. Our Spring weather was mild, and allowed for extended flowering that produced very uniform grape clusters. Temperatures throughout Napa remained steady and warm during the majority of summer and fall, without any heat spikes, making for a long and unhurried harvest. The resulting wines are incredibly smooth and polished, with magnificent texture and color. |
